Teacher Profile... About Mrs. Gowman

My name is Elizabeth Gowman, and I am very excited to be the music teacher at St. Louis School. I am happy to bring my varied interests to the music classroom for your children. I try to model the active, participatory nature of music by myself being active as a teacher and learner. I look forward to meeting you during this school year.

I began my musical career at age 5 with piano lessons at the Eastman School of Music, and have studied flute, harp, guitar, cello and many other instruments in the years since. I received my Baccalaureate degree in Music Education from the University of Michigan in 1997, and my Master's degree in Music Therapy from Immaculata College in 2001.

My family lives in Victor in a three-generation hoursehold. I am mother to three wonderful children—Gabe (freshman at the University of Michigan), Kieran (10th Grade), and Isabella (7th Grade). We travel extensively in the United States and enjoy camping, hiking, biking, and kayaking. I play many instruments for fun, do a lot of crafty things, and love to bake and cook for the eight of us who live together!

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at any time. My school email is liz.gowman@dor.org and my school phone number is 586-5200. I rarely answer the phone during school hours as we are a noisy room, busy in the making of the music, but I will get back to you as soon as I receive your message!
